Herbal Books

Herbal book recommendations!! Where do I start? I went through my shelves and picked out those books I thought were the best for beginners and established plant lovers alike.⠀
⠀
𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒔 are great. I have several of them, but the medicinal plant one is very handy. I triple check every plant before harvesting and advise you do the same!⠀
⠀
𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑮𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓'𝒔 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍 is such a handy one. She covers all kinds of family concerns/ailments and how to's on making oils, tinctures, creams and more. Anything by Rosemary is great though!⠀
⠀
𝑱𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒓'𝒔 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 is one of my absolute favourites. She takes us through each month of the year with beautiful prose, folklore and intuitive connection with each plant she covers. She covers one or two plants per month and it's a great way to learn. ⠀
⠀
𝑾𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍'𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒚 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 is a lovely one. Lots of how to's on teas, tinctures, creams and more along with little bits of indigenous folklore sprinkled through. ⠀
⠀
𝑲𝒂𝒎𝒊 𝑴𝒄𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆'𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑲𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒏 is a wonderful resource for making herbal infused smoothies, elixirs, tonics, herbal spice blends... anything edible really. She challenges us to use herbs in absolutely everything we eat and drink and gives us a nice run down of the actions of each plant. ⠀
⠀
𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒏 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒕'𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒔 is an extensive bible of beautiful writing paired with ingenious combinations and techniques. You'll fall in love with plants while you read this. If you like Judith Burger, you'll love Robin Rose Bennett.⠀
⠀
𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑯𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒎𝒂𝒏'𝒔 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍 is a great and simple resource breaking down body systems and giving a brief write up on several important herbs. This is a great resource and one I go back to on a regular basis for quick reference. ⠀
⠀
There are so many more I'd love to dive into... look up anything by Steven Harold Buhner, Rosemary Gladstar, David Hoffman. I also love scouring second hand stores for herbal gems. Sometimes I find word out copies of books on body creams, natural perfumes and wild plant identification.
